The Science Roadshow Came To Town

The Science Roadshow Came To Town

On Friday 30 June week 9 at 10:35 me and my habitat and LH5  went to the Science Roadshow next to the place where we meet up on Monday and Fridays or as we called it the multi-space. anyways where were we?

"Ahh" So the first thing we did at 10:25 was have I break time. We had it for 10 or less mins. Then when we were finished we when in a single line and when down to Ormps to go to the multi-space.

When we were there we when to sit down on the floor next to the stage floor. A few mins later, the 2 men introduced there selves and introduced what there were going to do for us and it was chemical reactions!

When that was finished, he gave a piece of paper it had on it 4 different activities on it and they were, Hand battery, Mass spectrometer, Mysterious black box and last, Spinners.

What you had to do was that you had to go to the places then you try it out then read the sign next to the activity then you go up to a teacher or as we call it, "Learning Coach" anyway, with a yellow band around their body and tell then what is one of the activity's purpose is when you finished telling then they give you stamp in one of the 4 activity when you get 2 stamps the tell you to write your and school so for e.g name: Harry, School: Ormiston primary school. then you had to put in a red box!

When it was 10-20 mins to 12 the learning coach's tell us to sit on the floor next to the stage floor. when we were all on the floor they picked out 2 winners sadly I wasn't the one, but my classmates won and those were, Sameha and amolok!

After that was gone, they had another show for us and the topic was... hidden things!

The part i liked about the, hidden things  topic was that we got to see the inside of Dave's body but this wasn't real Dave was just a manikin and the picture was just fake!

The thing i liked about the whole day was... when they put an X-ray to Dave's leg "remember Dave is not a real person he is just a manikin!

What I could do in the future: Do a iExlpore about, X-ray, chemical reactions, pond water, microscope,

Joshua and Harry's 3D Printing Learning Story

Learners: Joshua & Harry     Learning Coach: T.Dillner            Date: 21.9.15 Learning Area: Technology - 3D Printing Learning Observed Joshua & Harry chose to participate in 3D Printing during iExperience during Week 7-10 this term. We initially learnt about the Thinker’s Key called ‘BAR’. BAR stands for Bigger, Add, Replace. To practise, the learners had to pick either a pen, lunch box or tennis racquet to make a feature bigger, add to the item and replace something. The learners had as much creative license as they needed and then they reflected on how functional the item had become - could it still be used for its original purpose? The next stage was to come up with an item that we use at school and repeat the BAR process. Joshua & Harry decided on creating a dice to use in a game. Joshua & Harry had to use the website TinkerCad to design their dice. They had to use the pre...
