Trenches Narrative

Learner: Harry and Saif        Learning Coach: Mr Hattie          Date: 7 April 2016
Learning Area: Learning Habitat 1 - iExperience
Learning Observed
In the lead up to ANZAC day we are looking at different aspects of ANZAC Day to immerse the learners into the topic. Harry and Saif were in the area that was looking at Life in the Trenches. This is a new topic they seemed very interested in once they figured out what a trench was. After the learners developed their Capabilities in understanding about life in the trenches we looked at creating a trench scene in the Habitat. The Learners worked Collaboratively to construct their scene using the furniture. Once the trench was built we sat in the trench and discussed what we thought of life in the trenches. Harry was very excited and asked about how they kept the food cold and fresh. Saif was wanting to know where the soldiers went to the toilet.

The learners had as much creative license as they needed and then they reflected on how functional the item had become - could it still be used for its original purpose? The next stage was to come up with an item that we use at school and repeat the BAR process. Joshua & Harry decided on creating a dice to use in a game. Joshua & Harry had to use the website TinkerCad to design their dice. They had to use the pre...
